Partnering in Godly Parenting: Celebrating Child Dedications

Child dedications are an opportunity for parents to express their desire to raise their child in a Christian home, believing and praying that at an early age, they come to know the Lord and follow Him all the days of their life. As a church family, this is our opportunity to partner with parents to support them in that calling. We’re honored to be entrusted with this privilege!

Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.

-Psalms 127:3

During child dedication, parents make a commitment before God, their family, and the church to raise their child in a God-honoring way. To participate, parents should:

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attend Radiant’s weekend services and follow Christ in their own life.
  • Attend our Next Steps class and agree with our church’s beliefs and values.
  • Model personal purity and lead by example in matters of faith and conduct.

If you have any questions, reach out to your Location Kids Director or email Pastor Delia Cornwell, our Kids Pastor.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Do I need to be a member of Radiant to dedicate my child?

Membership at Radiant Church is not required for child dedication. However, we encourage families to consider Radiant as their home church, as dedication signifies a partnership with God and the Church in raising their child.

I am a single parent. Can I dedicate my child?

Single parents are welcome to participate in child dedication. We do ask that you meet with your Location Pastor prior to registering to ensure this is your next best step.

I became a parent through adoption. Can I still dedicate my child?

Absolutely! If you’ve recently adopted a child, we’d be delighted to dedicate them once the adoption is finalized. We value our foster and adoptive families and are here to support you.

Is child dedication the same as baptism?

Child dedication is not the same as baptism. Baptism is a personal decision for individuals who have chosen to trust Jesus alone for their salvation. Dedication is a ceremony where parents seek God’s blessing and commit to raising their child according to Scripture.

What happens during the Child Dedication Ceremony?

During child dedication, your family will have a special moment on stage with your location pastor during our Sunday morning service. The pastor will introduce your child to the Church Family, and you will publicly commit to guiding your child’s faith journey. We’ll pray over your family and present a Bible, certificate, book, and special letter to your child.

When does Child Dedication take place?

Child Dedication occurs quarterly across our Radiant locations. Additional dates may be scheduled as your location requires. We ask that you register for child dedication at your home location during your normal service time. Feel free to invite friends and family to join in this special time of prayer and celebration.

I’m ready to dedicate my child, what’s next?

If you are ready to dedicate your child, please complete the course below. This is a 3 part, video based, online course that your family can complete when it is most convenient for you. Once you have completed the course, you will receive a registration link to schedule your dedication. Your Location Kids Director will then reach out to confirm your dedication. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
