How to Help Make Church Engaging for Your Children, No Matter Where You Are

by | Dec 11, 2020

Whether virtual church is a temporary solution for your family or something you’re considering for the long haul, it’s normal to wonder how in the world you’ll be able to keep your little ones engaged. We’ve actually been thinking about the same thing: how can all of the excitement, fun, and learning of an in-person children’s group be brought into a virtual environment? The answer: bringing all of the elements that make in-person church experiences great for kids into a virtual space! From engaging videos featuring wacky experiments, fun graphics, and important Biblical lessons to virtual resources for parents to stay involved, we’ve found a few ways to bring a fulfilling, life-giving church experience to parents and little ones alike! Keep on reading to learn more about how we do it.

An Up to Date Online Experience

The key to keeping kids engaged in virtual church is to make it a fun, interactive experience for them, just like it would be in person! This means thinking outside of the box to bring engaging activities right to your living room screen. At Radiant, that’s exactly what we do in our Online Kid’ Experience. Every week, Radiant Kids has a new and updated online experience made especially for kids. This includes anything from music and educational games to fun science experiments, skits, and cartoons – all geared towards educating and engaging them with Biblical lessons. Going to church virtually doesn’t have to mean that kids lose the fun, interactive elements of in-person church experiences. It’s actually quite the opposite: by making the most of the creative opportunities that videos give us, we’re able to give kids a multimedia experience that keeps them excited about church. The best part? Each weekly Radiant kids experience corresponds to our live lessons and services, which makes it super easy for kids to jump right into in-person services (if that’s something you want to do!) in the future.

Partnering with Parents

The key to keeping kids engaged with virtual church is to make sure that parents are a key part of the experience. We want to hear from parents what their kids need in order to stay engaged in and excited about church every week. That’s exactly why we encourage parents to follow @weareradiantkids on Facebook and Instagram. This way, it’s easy for you to get updates about upcoming lessons and virtual events, as well as to give us your feedback about how your little ones liked the latest Radiant Kids experience. Parents are such an important part of their children’s experience with church – that shouldn’t change in a virtual setting!
Making church engaging for your children, regardless of where they are, starts with making sure their virtual experience gives them everything they get out of in-person activities: community, fun, and a chance to learn important Biblical truths in a bright and engaging way.
